With a strong belief in the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created his cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to create a figure that served as a constant reminder to stay positive and optimistic. Although the 1960s are often referred to as “The Happy Sixties,” the decade was marked by unrest. That’s why Ehrenreich’s design was a welcome source of joy in an otherwise turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble represent the very first Hoptimists created by the designer: a girl in a dress with smiling eyes and an attentive boy with a part in his hair. Today, the cheerful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and bring joy all around the world. The figures come in four different sizes and a wide range of colors that radiate energy, good humor, and joy. There’s guaranteed to be a Hoptimist for every occasion and every person.
